Policy on Opioids/Narcotics (includes Oxycodone, Morphine, Percocet, Dilaudid)

After having worked together to exhaust all options for pain control, a VERY small percentage of patients may benefit from narcotic medication. In these cases, a narcotic agreement must be signed by the patient and co-signed by the doctor, and any violation of this agreement will result in termination from the practice. Dr. Wright will NOT renew any narcotics (short term or long term) over the phone or by pharmacy fax request.

Zero Tolerance Policy

We all know that there is a family doctor shortage across the province. Thousands of Ontario residents do not have a family doctor. Family doctors and their staff are working tirelessly to care for patients. Understandably, many are burnt out. Most of our patients understand this and are appreciative of the care that our office provides. Some patients, however, express their frustration in a rude or even abusive manner. As doctors and their staff work harder than ever to provide care in this challenging environment, the solutions to the over-taxed health care system needs to include patient accountability.

If a patient acts in a manner that is deemed abusive, disrespectful, threatening, or harassing towards any member of our health care team, that patient will be immediately discharged from the practice without warning or second chance. This is solely at the discretion of the office staff and physician.

Fees for Prescription Renewals Without a Visit

Effective January 1st, 2025, there will be a $20 fee for renewal of prescriptions without a visit. The primary purpose of this fee is not to collect extra revenue, but rather to offset the tremendous administrative burden of managing prescription renewals since the COVID pandemic. Patients will be offered a prescription renewal visit (SINGLE VISIT APPOINTMENT). It is up to the patient to book this well in advance of the prescription due date.  Certain exceptions will apply

Did You Know...

The Ontario Health Insurance plan (OHIP) covers most of a patient’s medical visit, however, there are many uninsured visits that OHIP does not cover. OHIP generally only pays for medical assessments and treatment advice that is given in person. Medical advice, questions, phone calls, prescription requests, forms, letters, notes, emails and faxes require time and resources from both the office staff and physician attention, resulting in mounting operating costs to run an efficient medical clinic

Uninsured Fees and Services

The Ontario Health Insurance plan (OHIP) pays for most of your medical visit sand services. However, there are some services that OHIP does NOT cover. These services not covered by OHIP are calls “Uninsured Services”. Because OHIP does not reimburse physicians for these services, payment must come from patients themselves. A list of uninsured service fees can be found HERE

Missed Appointment Fee

Due to the extremely high volume of ‘no-show” booked appointments, we are now implementing a $40 missed appointment fee for cancellations or no-shows within 24 hour’s notice.
